Some More Randoms

Kona was this past weekend. Craig Alexander won after placing 2nd last year. Chrissie Wellington stomped the women's field this year. Andy Potts turned in a good finish at 7th and just out-did Michael Lovato (9th) for the top-American spot. Linsey Corbin (5th) was the top American Female. On paper, it does not appear that the hometown Austin athletes did not fare too well, but Kona is not known as a 'kind' course.

We've been doing some very, very minor home upgrades. Mostly just cleaning up crap, replacing our early 80s mini-blinds, and changing up bathroom windows. We had the floors done a few years ago. I had A/C put in about 5-6 years ago. Amy has some pictures over on her blog.

Dan Empfield of Slowtwitch.com has a good 'op-ed' piece here. It talks about "race course chivalry". It's good to read that. As someone who has been in the sport since 1989, I can say that there is definitely a difference between today's triathletes and the triathletes of the early 90s. Maybe it's my distorted view of the world that we live in, but it seems like by and large that today's triathletes are more into "me" than they were years ago. One of those 'remember when' moments.

I don't know how I came upon it, but I check this blog every so often. The 'eat local' month post is a good one. How much local food do you eat on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.

Kind of related to the 'green' paragraph above. Maybe I'll take a picture of it, but we got our new 'recycle bin' today. It's so big that we could fit our entire trash can in it. It is for single stream recycling. You can read about the cities new 'state of the art' recycling program here.

One more 'green' note. KG, ignore this if you're reading this. I keep getting these 'lil green patch' requests on facebook. Again...I don't know much about facebook other than it lets me find current and old friends. I'm not again saving the freakin' rainforest, but I don't know how to do all this facebook crap.

That's all. More Thursday when reality hits.

I'm done harassing you about facebook. I'll just say you keep catching me off guard with that one.

RE: the Slowtwitch article. I read the first part and got all warm and fuzzy. Then I read the end. I now hate Andy Potts. He'd NEVER ridden 100 miles or run over 15 and he finsihed 7th?!? F%*#$ing FREAK!
