What The Pros Eat

I've posted about my dietary habits a bit, and how they have changed over the years. They are still in a state of refinement, though refinement does not mean refined foods if you get my drift. So, when SQW posted on his blog what he eats, I read with interest. SQW was the men's gold medal winner in the 2000 Olympic Triathlon. His blog is good.

We eat the same but different. Different in that he eats quite a bit more fat than I do. Different in that I eat more bread. The same in that we both try to focus on real food. Once again, real food seems to be the key. Not convenience food that comes in a package. But real food that grows in the ground or walks on the ground. Yep, I eat sports drinks and have an energy bar a day, but I think there is a place for those. I really, really try not to eat packaged food much at all, and I've been trying to limit my sugar intake in non sports drinks or energy bars. And, I think that my soymilk may be replaced by Almond milk soon.

Here is a link to Simon's post.

I read Simon's "what I eat" post. I cannot imagine the amount of time it would take to fix everything that he eats. If I can't get lunch done and down in 1 hr then I can't have lunch. I guess that is why you called your post "What the Pros Eat" and not what "Normal People Who Clock In" eat.

The joke around our house is that every day is a camping trip. And it starts the night before at about 9-9:30. I'm generally making either a big salad and a couple of sandwiches for the next day or trying to put something together from the leftovers from dinner.

It's up in the AM to make a smoothie before swimming and/or some oatmeal for after the pool workout.

It definitely takes some planning, and I'm usually at SE about 30 or so hours each week, and I've worked 40+ before in the corporate world. So, I feel your pain...maybe I'll blog about how I get it all ready.

I agree...I should plan better and not spend so much time, at night, watching my favorite episodes of House/Saving Grace/Heroes....In other words get off my butt and think about the next day.
And when I said "normal people" I meant folks who aren't super-human fast and totally focused on the goal. I complain about not eating well..I should just do it and quit my whining. My biggest weakness is snacking at night. I get so hungry after dinner.

i have mostly cut soy out of my diet, which has been difficult since i am sucker for soy in my americanos and used to eat a clif/odwalla bar a day. not any more...looks like i will switch to almond milk and butter. most of my down time is for "camping trip prep" as well...
