Wednesday evening Bicycle Sport Shop hosted an informal session with Dave Wenger and John Korioth at Bicycle Sport Shop. Dave is a great bike fit and cycling coaching resource.
Anyway, John recently won the USA Cycling Masters National Championship Road Race. John has been riding for a long time, and if you remember a really fast guy who's from Texas that won a small race over in France more than 6 but less than 8 times, he's a friend of Johns.
To get down to the point of this post. There was a LOT, and I mean a LOT of good information shared. Some of it was race related, some of it was not. Here are some of the things that I think are good to take home from the talk...and I see Dave 4-5 days a week. I will probably elaborate on several of these in future posts....
- Go Race Your Bike.
- Are you going to be somebody today?
- Gamble, only 10% of the people in Casinos really gamble, and those 10% are probably the same 10% that win.
- Get a Coach.
- What does it take to be a good bike racer? 1 - Ride your bike, 2 - Eat good food, 3 - Sleep well, and 4 - Get massages.
- Looking 'fast' does not necessarily equal racing fast.
More later on each of these.
