1:11:28

The 3M half marathon was this morning. Goal #1 was to have a solid well planned race. Goal #2 was to beat last years time. Goal #3 was 'unspecified', but it was to run sub 1:12.

I accomplished goals 1, 2, and 3. I ran 1:11:28. My splits were all pretty even. The course has a net elevation loss...it's mostly down hill. The majority of the elevation drop is in the 2nd half. My splits were pretty even, but the 1st/2nd half splits show that my 2nd half was indeed faster, 5:30 pace compared to 5:25 for the last part of the race. I think that I had more 5:30s in me if the course would have been a little flatter.

Rather than looking at the overall time, I'd like to compare it to last year's race. On the same course, I was 1:30 faster overall. That should bode well for the triathlon season that is coming up. Swimming is right about where it was at this point last year, maybe a tad behind, but it's moving pretty nicely. Cycling is coming around, but I've got some work to do there.

Amy ran well in 1:24:35, about 30 seconds faster than her goal. I had a 1:30 PR, but hers was probably closer to 10 minutes or so. She's only run a few 1/2 marathons, but it looks like her run leg of the triathlon is going to shape up to be a good one.

Till next time.
